La Palma is one of the three best places in the world for astronomy. It lies in the trade winds, only about 590 km north of the tropics. This means that for most of the year, the wind blows from the north east, reaching the island after a thousand kilometers of ocean. When it hits the land, it is forced upwards, and cools. This makes any moisture condense into clouds, usually between 1.200 m an 1.800 m – well below the observatory (S.M. Crosby 2012). Most days, from the Roque de los Muchachos, you can look down on a sea of clouds, and up to a perfect blue sky. Any dust or pollution is usually trapped in these clouds too, leaving very clean, dry air at the top of the mountain. The image was recorded during an astrophotography expedition at the top of Caldera de Taburiente – La Palma, Canary Islands. From there you can absolutely share and observe the Heaven.

Questo comporta che per la maggior parte dell’anno, il vento soffia da nord-est, raggiungendo l’isola dopo migliaia di chilometri di oceano. Quando colpisce la terra, è spinto in sù e raffreddato. Questo fa si che la formazione di umidità e di conseguenza di nuvole, avvenga tra i 1.200 – 1.800 metri, ben al di sotto della quota degli osservatori astronomici (S.M. Crosby 2012). La maggior parte dei giorni, da Roque de los Muchachos, guardando in giù si può scorgere un mare di nuvole, mentre all’insù si può osservare un cielo blu perfetto. Le polveri e l’inquinamento rimangono anch’essi intrappolati nelle nuvole generando un’aria pulita e secca all’altezza della sommità della montagna. L’immagine è stata registrata durante una spedizione astrofotografica sulla cima della caldera di Taburiente – La Palma – isole Canarie. Da li puoi certamente condividere ed osservare il Paradiso.
